Theater gives children the tools and inspiration they need to go out and embrace our amazing world. Our classes allowed students a chance to discover their individual talents and interests while exploring the basics of singing and acting in a safe and encouraging environment to feel relaxed and uninhibited, all essential to acting.
Classes were divided by skill level, as well as by age to provide for appropriate teaching levels and course materials.
No auditions were necessary to become a cast member. Roles were usually distributed on the fourth week of classes and everyone has guaranteed participation, from those who love to act and sing to those who enjoy making new friends and gaining confidence. Classes culminated in a performance for family and friends designed to showcase their talents and hard work.
Class size were limited. Costumes, props, actor’s book, and music were provided.
MISSION
We believe in empowering children and teens and find it amazing what a little responsibility, teamwork, and spotlight can do. This introduction to Musical Theater provided the opportunity to explore every week acting exercises, simple movements, and an introduction to singing. The courses encouraged them to develop their imagination and self-esteem, skills such as emotional connection, character development, the study of comedic and dramatic genre, voice and diction. Ultimately, they always exceeded our expectations as well as their own and are an inspiration.
In this teaching program, we took a limited number of students to activate their individual creative inspirations and instill the idea that everyone has talent regardless of age or background. We took pride in the fact that our students were each thoughtfully given parts in which they can both achieve and be challenged to perform. We met each student at the level he/she was in and chose parts specifically to play to their strengths and grew them in the areas they were still needing improvement.
At the end of the session, participating in the musical was a rewarding learning experience and collaboration where everyone’s contribution was important. The journey was complete –until the next production.
