Theater gives the young people the tools and inspiration they need to go out and embrace our amazing world. Our classes allow students a chance to discover their individual talents and interests while exploring the basics of singing and acting in a safe and encouraging environment to feel relaxed and uninhibited, all essential to acting.
Classes are divided by skill level, as well as by age to provide for appropriate teaching levels and course materials.
No auditions are necessary to become a cast member. Roles are distributed after the four first weeks of classes and everyone has guaranteed participation, from those who love to act and sing to those who enjoy making new friends and gaining confidence. Classes culminate in a performance for family and friends designed to showcase their talents and hard work.
Acting and musical theatre is great fun; however, we do take teaching seriously and expect that our students will practice and attend regularly their classes as individuals’ involvement impacts the entire ensemble.
Class size is limited. Please apply early as registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Costumes, props, actor’s book, and music are provided.
We believe in empowering children and teens and find it amazing what a little responsibility, teamwork, and spotlight can do. This introduction to Musical Theater provides the opportunity to explore every week acting exercises, simple movements, and an introduction to singing. The courses encourage them to develop their imagination and self-esteem, skills such as emotional connection, character development, the study of comedic and dramatic genre, voice and diction. Ultimately, they always exceed our expectations as well as their own and are an inspiration.
In this teaching program, we take a limited number of students to activate their individual creative inspirations and instill the idea that everyone has talent regardless of age or background. We take pride in the fact that our students are each thoughtfully given parts in which they can both achieve and be challenged to perform. We meet each student at the level he/she is and choose parts specifically to play to their strengths and grow them in the areas they are still needing improvement.
At the end of the session, participating in the musical is a rewarding learning experience and collaboration where everyone’s contribution is important. The journey is complete –until the next production.
