Uzel Ann C. Arellano-Macapagal, more commonly known as Miss Ann while teaching, is a performing arts enthusiast. Uzel Ann has earned her Associates in Arts degree while studying simultaneously at the University of Miami and Miami Dade College. She is working on her master’s in Software Engineering and Database Administration, while teaching her seventh season of Musical Theatre at the Miami Conservatory of Music (MCofM).

Born in Hollywood, Florida, Uzel Ann discovered a love for music at a young age through singing, and began her music studies at the age of five with private piano lessons. To further expand her love of performance she participated in Theatrical Arts at school and became a student at the Miami Conservatory of Music for piano and vocal performance.

Miss Ann was a Florida State Thespian for Miami Arts Charter School Troupe 7590; competing at Districts, and State competitions. She received Superior marks, Critic’s Choice, two consecutive years as an Improv Jam finalist, and became a recipient of a Senior Monologue Scholarship.

In 2013 Miss Ann joined her former teacher Nicole Avesani, as an Assistant Director and Choreographer for the Musical Theatre program. As a former student returning as an instructor at the MCofM it is both a privilege and an honor. Miss Ann would like to thank Brigitte Kishlar, for her support and infinite contributions to the arts. As well as, Nicole Avesani, for helping build a foundation when Uzel Ann was a vocal student at the MCofM and for building that same foundation for their Musical Theatre students today.

Miss Ann has this message for her students: Break a leg! It has been amazing teaching you and watching you all grow throughout the years. As you find your own passion in performance I encourage you to take risks and give yourself entirely to any performance. You are not only refining and defining yourself as a performer but creating an experience and moment for your audience.
