Group Lessons consist of four or more students and are offered throughout the year. Most common classes are Discovery Keyboard or Strings for beginners (10-week sessions), Keyboard Kids, Junior String Ensemble, Rock Band, Musical Theatre, and new this year, the Coconut Grove Community Orchestra for teens and adults.
• JUNIOR MUSICAL THEATRE 5th to 10th Grade
Frozen Jr. This enchanting modern classic from Disney brings Elsa, Anna, and the magical land of Arendelle to life, onstage. The show features all of the memorable songs from the animated film.
It is our goal to have every student grow and learn within our program. Our program focuses on the process more than the product. We evaluate each student with their level in acting, singing and dancing and do our best to find a role that highlights their strengths and allows them to be challenged in their weaknesses. There are no small roles and each student is a vital part of our team. Ensemble work is essential to the growth of students as it pushes them to play multiple parts, have quick changes, learn big dance numbers and a lot of music. This is truly where they have the most fun! We do our best to do right by each student individually while meeting the needs of the whole class and of the script. NEW! JUNIOR INTENSIVE – By Audition Only! FULL!
for Grades 5 – 10 (min. 17 students required to open this session)
Faster pace, more intensive singing and dancing, performances opened to the general public, support ensemble for Jr1 & Jr2, performance excerpts at the Kids Musical, stagehand/tech experience at multiple performances.
Students will complete a questionnaire and state their top choice roles (major and minor). They will audition for those roles specifically, however we may decide they will be better suited elsewhere. A student may decide he/she wants to be in the Junior Intensive class regardless of which role is received, or if a student is not satisfied with the role they have been given, they may choose to join the Junior 1 or Junior 2 class instead. If a student is not accepted into the Junior Intensive class, he/she is urged to join the Junior 1 or Junior 2 class, where they will have another opportunity to be observed fresh, and receive a role that will fit their skill-set.

MINI ACTING STUDIO is designed for children to explore fun acting principles, work on overcoming stage fright, improving concentration, opening their imagination and interacting with each other while performing excerpts of different plays.

Learn music in a fun social group atmosphere!
Keyboard Kids focuses on piano while building a foundation in music which can later be translated to any instrument as the child matures. Children aged between 6 and 9 years really thrive in the group setting, as it allows for a more interactive and social experience. They will move together as a group through a graded piano book, covering basic reaching and rhythm skills, learning simple pieces along with duet and ensemble playing getting progressively more challenging over the course of the class.

The Rock Band program is a great way for students to learn to play together in a fun and friendly environment and a great incentive to practice. We welcome guitarists, bassists, keyboardists/pianists, drummers, and lead singers. Performances in Fall and Spring.

• This program is a ONE-YEAR course. Students enroll in the fall and are automatically re-enrolled for spring.
• A minimum of 2 years of private instruction on the instrument is required and placement is upon audition for new students. Payment is due after the audition if the new student is accepted.

Young children will learn the basics of music notation and rhythm, including ear training and listening skills, and playing familiar songs together, all to better understand music language and apply it to the piano or another instrument. We provide one keyboard per student for in-class instruction.

This class is designed to introduce the students to the string instrument basics in a small group setting. Beginners from age 5 will enjoy hands on opportunities to explore the violin, viola and cello. Instruments are provided for these classes.

Junior String Ensemble is for students who have been playing for at least 2 years and are able to sight-read. There is one or more performances at the end of each session.

We welcome anyone from Miami-Dade among teens and adults who can read music and is comfortable with musical notation. Placement is upon audition.
Whether it is complementary to learning an instrument or brushing up existing skills, musicians will have the opportunity to enjoy playing together a repertoire from classical to modern music and enrich the community by providing fine music free of charge.
