Areas of study include piano, voice, violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar, ukulele, flute, drums and more. In a group setting, keyboard, string ensembles, rock band, musical theatre and Coconut Grove Community Orchestra now cancelled. MCofM offers additional subjects which include music appreciation, music theory and sight reading, and composition. Whether it is for formal training or leisure, classes are tailored to meet the specific interests and needs of the students. The curriculum is designed to teach students from age 4 or 5 and adults with or without musical experience.
Private Lessons

Students engage in individual one-to-one instruction with an expert teacher to learn a musical instrument or take their playing to the next level. Lessons can be scheduled one or more times per week, and can be 30 min., 45 min., or one-hour class in piano, voice, violin, viola, cello, flute, saxophone, drums, guitar (electric & acoustic), drums, composition/song writing, theory & solfege.
Semi-Private Lessons
(Children and Adults)
Same as Private Lessons, but two students may share lesson blocks of 45 or 60 minutes.
Group Classes – ALL CANCELED
Group Classes consist of four or more students and are offered throughout the year. Most common classes are Discovery Keyboard or Discovery Strings (10-week sessions), Keyboard Kids or String Ensembles, Rock Band, Musical Theatre and this fall, the Coconut Grove Community Orchestra.
Camps – CANCELED
Specific programs covering a variety of topics and disciplines for specific age-groups are offered during the summer for beginners. Our most popular ones include the Musical Theatre and Music Discovery.
String Ensembles – CANCELED
• Junior String Ensemble: For students who have been playing for at least 2 years and are able to sight-read.
• Coconut Grove Community Orchestra: For anyone among teens and adults who can read music and is comfortable with musical notation.
Musical Theatre _ CANCELED
Theater gives the young people the tools and inspiration they need to go out and embrace our amazing world. Our classes allow students a chance to discover their individual talents and interests while exploring the basics of singing and acting in a safe and encouraging environment to feel relaxed and uninhibited, all essential to acting.

Music Therapy for Children with Autism – CANCELED
Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by music therapists. The therapist will assess emotional well-being, physical health, social functioning, communication abilities, and cognitive skills through musical responses; design music sessions for individuals and groups using music improvisation, receptive music listening, song writing, lyric discussion, music and imagery, music performance, and learning through music.
The child doesn’t have to have some particular music ability to benefit from music therapy. And there is not one particular style of music that is more therapeutic than all the rest. All styles of music can be useful in effecting change in the child’s life.
School and University Entrance Auditions Preparation – CANCELED
Whether instrumental or vocal, a customized preparatory program following the school’s requirements is designed for the students to develop the necessary skills in performing, composing, and appraising.
